5-time Coast champion Vikings fall in NorCal semifinals
The West Valley volleyball team ended the 2024 season with a hard-fought 3-1 loss to San Joaquin Delta College in Stockton Nov. 26. The 14th-seeded Vikings ended the year 15-13, while the No. 3 Mustangs improved to 25-4 and advanced to the NorCal regional finals, where they fell to No. 6 Feather River 3-1 on Nov. 30.
After playing arguably the region's toughest pre-conference schedule, the Vikings captured their fifth-consecutive Coast-South title with a 9-1 record. Sophie Ehret finished the year with a 3C2A-2nd-best 527 kills and 4.97 kills-per-set. Francesca Zanotti was sixth in the state with 993 assists and seventh with 9.28 assists-per-set. Jess Watanabe's 4.13 digs-per-set were good for 23rd in the state.
Julia LaPierre joined Ehret, Watanabe and Zanotti on the All-Coast-South 1st Team, while Lavelua Stepp earned 2nd Team honors.
