Vikings flatten Falcons in regular season finale

West Valley wrapped up the 2024 regular season with a 9-0 sweep of Folsom Lake in Folsom Tuesday. The Vikings finished 9-6, 7-3 in the Coast Conference, their third consecutive winning campaign.
Since 2022, coach Lauren Hickey's squad has posted a 33-14 overall record that includes a 27-7 mark in the Coast. The sweep of the Falcons was much closer than the final score indicated, as the three doubles matches, which opened the contest, could have gone either way.
WVC's D3 tandem of Kristin Arguedas and Bailey Sylva pulled out an 8-6 win, while Huiguan Liu and Abigail Salazar took their D2 match 8-5, and Viking D1's Kristina Gazaryan and Faith Son escaped with a tense 9-7 victory.
The 3-0 WVC lead provided a cushion heading into singles, where the Vikings went 6-0, including a Liu tiebreaker win in S4.
Next up for WVC is the Coast Conference Championship tournament April 11-13 at Chabot College.
