Avila, Biswell, Culp help Vikings maul Mountain Lions
Greta Biswell, here vs. Gavilan, scored her 1st collegiate goal Tuesday
Greta Biswell and Lucy Culp recorded their first collegiate goals Tuesday to lead the West Valley women's soccer team to a 6-0 blanking of De Anza in Cupertino. Additionally, the irrepressible Amanda Avila added her second consecutive four-goal game to her already-unmatched resume.
Avila banged home four unanswered goals in 20 minutes, starting with an unassisted tally in the 38th minute. She converted Laura Hernandez helpers at 40' and 52' and burried a Ximena Heredia pass in the 59th minute, giving her a state 2nd-best 25 goals on the season. Heredia set up Culp's score in the 74th minute and Biswell's unassisted goal closed out the scoring in the 83rd minute.
Nevaeh Reyes (65 minutes) and Jaz Quach (25 minutes) shared time in goal, with Reyes earning the win to move to 11-3-1 on the season.
The Vikings (11-4-1, 5-1-0 Coast-North) have nine days off before hosting Evergreen Valley (4-6-4, 3-0-2 Coast-South) November 1 in a key Coast contest. Kickoff at Dick Schwendinger Field is 12:30pm.
