Meza PK lifts Vikings past Folsom Lake

Jose Meza strikes in the game winner against Folsom Lake

Jose Meza strikes in the game winner against Folsom Lake

A Folsom Lake hand ball in the box set up Jose Meza's 72nd-minute game winning penalty kick in a battle of two of NorCal's top squads Saturday at Dick Schwendinger Filed. The well-played fixture saw both teams get quality shots in both halves, but strong goalkeeping by WVC's Bryan Gutierrez and FLC's Alonso Ruiz kept the scoreboard blank until Meza's PK.

Gutierrez picked up his second clean sheet of the season, the other happening in a 0-0 draw at SoCal powerhouse Mt. San Antonio 9/3.

The Vikings (2-1-1) have ten days off before their annual derby at De Anza (2-1-2) Sept. 26. Kickoff is 2:00pm.
