Vikings (5-0) Cruise Past Fresno City 80-67

Fresno, Calif. – Jeremiah Dargan once again was the man of the hour for West Valley College Men's Basketball, tallying his third-straight game of 16 or more points with a game high 19 points. Dargan drained three bombs from beyond the arc as the Vikings took care of Fresno City College on the road with a 80-67 victory on Friday evening.

Dargan, coming off a 16-point outing against (#4) San Diego City, continued to solidify himself as one of the state's premier players with his dynamic play. With 10 rebounds in the first half of the game, Dargan showcased his ability to crash the boards against anybody in his way finishing with 11 boards on the game.

The sophomore duo of Elijah Mahi and Jeremiah Dargan combined for a dominating 38 points, each posting double-doubles. Mahi was one of three Vikings to finish in double figures in scoring on a night where he moved the needle to everyone on the floor. Three treys added to his 13-point first half, adding on to the 19 point first-half lead for the Vikings.

Shakir Odunewu scored 16 points for his fifth straight double digit game of the season while grabbing 8 rebounds. Aaron Ragen tallied 5 points and 4 assists, and Baron Bracey finished with 8 points (40% 3FG) on 3-of-6 shooting from the floor.

It was a dominant all-around effort for the 5-0 Vikings, who improved to 4-0 on the road with the victory. West Valley shot 41.2% percent from the floor (28-68) and were suffocating on the boards with 49 total team rebounds, including 23 offensive boards.

West Valley jumped on top of the Rams early in the opening half by knocking down five of their ten treys in the opening half. The Vikings closed out the final 3 minutes of the first half on a 15-0 run that included a pair of 3-pointers from Mahi, and one more just before the buzzer by Dargan to take a commanding 45-26 lead into the locker room.

The second half saw much of the same as the Vikings maintained the lead for the rest of the night. Ariya Briscoe (4 points, 5 rebounds & 5 assists), Jake Davis (4 points, 6 rebounds,& 3 steals), Darrius Kendall (3 points & 3 assists), and Kosi Warren-House (2 points) all contributed to the Vikings win.

Fresno City College was led by Yigit Sari's 17 points.

The Vikings return to action on Tuesday Nov. 21 at home against Marin. The game is set for a 2 P.M. PT tip and will be live streamed on the West Valley College Athletics YouTube page.
