Kenji Colston blasted a 9th-inning homer at Marin

A trio of pitchers combined on a three-hitter and Kenji Colston slugged a 9th-inning homer to lead West Valley to a 3-0 win at Marin Tuesday. The Vikings (7-2) got the only run they would need in the top of the 1st, added a run in the 6th and then got a big insurance run from Colston three innings later. Reliever Isaac Hawthrone set the Mariners (4-5-1) down in order in the 9th to end it.

Hawthrone, who got the save, emulated starter Julian Ito and middle reliever Jase Newton in keeping Marin's bats in check and without a run. Ito got the win, surrendering only two hits and striking out four in five innings of work. Newton came in and gave up just a 6th-inning single in three innings.

Hall led the offense with a 3-for-4, one-RBI outing, while Colston was 2-for-4.

West Valley welcomes Lassen (7-1-1) to Valhalla Saturday for a 10:30am/1:00pm twinbill.
