Sielken slam seals game one win
Xander Sielken clubs a 7th inning grand slam against Chabot
Pinch hitter Xander Sielken's 7th inning grand slam propelled West Valley to an 8-3 win over Chabot in game one of the 3C2A Regional Final Friday at Valhalla. The win moves the Vikings (36-11) one step closer to its first NorCal title since 2008.
With the Vikings clinging to a 4-3 lead, Sielken sent a pitch over the center field fence that brought home Logan Stelling, Karter Wong and Jayce Dobie. WVC reliever Lincoln Juarez shut down the Gladiators (33-12) in the 8th and 9th to ensure the win.
Wong finished the day 3-for-4 with three RBI, and Dobie was 2-for-3 with three runs scored. Ryan Lordier also had two hits. Stelling started on the mound and earned the win, allowing just two runs on two hits and striking out six in four innings. Juarez got the save with three innings of no-run, one-hit, three-K work.
The best-of-three series continues Saturday at Valhalla at 1:00pm. Tickets are available (credit/debit cards only) at the gate or through the WVC Athletics website:
