Long trip, nice win for Vikings at Feather River
Ezra Echauri, here vs. Force MLS Next, had a goal and an assist at FRC
It's always challenging for a team to travel to Feather River College in the idyllic Sierra mountain town of Quincy. The travel itinerary - overnight stays in Chico and Folsom sandwiched between a 10-hour round-trip bus ride - didn't deter the West Valley men's soccer team from bagging a solid 4-1 win over the Golden Eagles.
The Vikings (2-1-0) got on the board first on a David Reyna 41st-minute goal off an assist from Devin Rosas. Ezra Echauri, from Harnoor Sidhu, made it 2-0 at 52'. After FRC (3-4-1) climbed to within 2-1 in the 78th minute, Pavan Nawbatt, from Erik Moreno, put it away four minutes later. Johan Granados added an insurance goal in stoppage time, finding the back of the net off an Echauri feed.
Aria Afshar stopped four Golden Eagle shots to earn the win in goal.
The Vikings hit the road Saturday (9/21) for their pre-conference finale against NorCal powerhouse Folsom Lake (4-1-0). Kickoff is 11:00am.
