While most West Valley students were taking the week off for Spring Break, Viking Beach was waging battle with the College of San Mateo and De Anza Wednesday at the West Valley Beach Volleyball Complex. The Vikings celebrated with a 4-1 win over the Bulldogs and a 3-2 victory over the Mountain Lions.

The matches were crucial contests, as the Coast Conference pairs and team tournaments are just a few weeks away. The wins helped the Vikings (7-10, 6-5 Coast) put some distance between themselves and CSM (3-16, 2-10) and De Anza (6-16, 3-9) in the league standings.

West Valley has a few days off and then travels to Salinas for a pair of April 11 matches against Monterey Peninsula (9-5, 6-3) and Hartnell (13-5, 7-2). First serves are 10am amd noon, respectively.
