West Valley battled ferocious winds and two top SoCal teams last week, but returned to Saratoga with a pair of wins. The victories at WVC's annual sojourn to Palm Desert moved the Vikings to 10-1 heading into crucial league battles against Cabrillo (3/11) and Foothill (3/14).

Ruth Herrera-Flores delivered her third match-clincher of 2025 in WVC's 5-4 win over Mt. San Jacinto (4-5) Wednesday. With the Vikings clinging to a 4-3 lead with two matches remaining, Herrera-Flores captured a tense 7-5 3rd set from MSJC's Cameron Royo to secure West Valley's win. Kristina Gazaryan, who teamed with Herrera-Flores to take their D2 match, also picked up a big 6-0, 6-0 S2 victory over MSJC's Trinity Anderson.

Sustained wind speeds of 17 MPH with gusts up to 35 MPH threatened to cancel WVC's Friday match against host College of the Desert. The teams decided to begin with the six singles matches and see where they stood afterward. West Valley was up 4-2 after singles, when the wind, and the affected air quality, caused doubles matches to be delayed one hour.

Pranjal Goyal and Bailey Sylva clinched the match for the Vikings with an 8-2 D3 win over COD's Mia Castillo and Liliana Ruiz. Goyal and Sylva posted wins in both doubles and singles.
