Aaron Biebel had 13 big 2nd half points against Fullerton.

Four 2024 3C2A state tournament teams - Fullerton, San Diego City, Yuba and defending champion West Valley - met last week in the Tournament of Champions at WVC's Bob Burton Court. The showcase of perrenial powers more than lived up to its name, with all four games decided by four points or less. Fullerton edged Yuba 79-76 Friday night, and San Diego City held off Yuba 89-86 in OT Saturday afternoon. West Valley's two games were equally thrilling.

CJ Willenborg hit a pair of treys and Jake Davis converted an and-one to stake the Vikings to a 9-0 lead against San Diego City in the tourney opener Friday. WVC (3-1) extended its lead to 33-22 at the break and then withstood a furious Knight rally in the 2nd half to escape with a 70-66 victory. Davis canned four threes en route to a game-high 17 points to go along with eight rebounds and three assists. Willenborg finished with 16 points and three boards. Caleb Asante scored 12 and pulled down four rebounds. Aaron Biebel recorded six points and seven rebounds. Kenny Gonzalez led the Knights (1-1) with 15 points.

West Valley took on Fullerton (1-1) Saturday in a battle of the last two state champions. Four 1st half three-pointers - one each from Davis, Willenborg, Amari Gray and Robel Zemmo - lifted WVC to a 28-24 halftime lead. It was back-and-forth in the 2nd, but six treys and 13 2nd-half points from Biebel helped the Vikings overcome 21 2nd-half points from FC's Joe Grahovac for a 72-69 win.

Biebel's 13 points led the Viking side of the book, while Davis finished with 11 points, four rebounds and three steals. Willenborg had nine points, three rebounds, two assists and a steal. Zemmo came of the bench for 11 points. Bryce Buchanan ended the night with four points, four rebounds and four assists.

The Vikings travel to Lemoore (2-2) Wednesday (11/13) for a 1:00pm tilt against the Eagles and then return to Saratoga Friday (11/15) for a 4:00pm game against Fresno City (0-2).
