2nd-seeded West Valley trailed No.18 Sierra 17-15 with just under 12 minutes to go in the opening half of Saturday's 3C2A NorCal semifinal at Bob Burton Court. The Wolverines were then held scoreless for the next seven-plus minutes, and the Vikings went on a 17-6 run to close out the half with a 35-23 lead. As is often their custom, WVC stormed out of the break with a 19-11 run and a 54-34 lead en route to a 76-59 victory over the fiesty Wolverines.

Caleb Asante took over in the second half, scoring 10 points on his way to a game-high 18. CJ Willenborg equaled Asante with 18 of his own, and Jake Davis added 13. Dontrell Johnson led Sierra with 17. The Viking defense, led by Aaron Biebel, held Wolverine scoring leader Garret Dutro to only two points in the 1st half and 11 total, nine under his season average.

The win advances the Vikings (26-3) to their fourth-consecutive home-court NorCal title contest March 8 against No.7 Skyline (23-6). The ball goes up at 7:00pm.
