Echauri leads Vikings past Hawks in crucial Coast contest
Ezra Echauri, here vs. Foothill, scored twice at Las Positas
The West Valley men's soccer team's biennial sojourn to Livermore often produces disappointing results, so Friday's 3-1 win over an always-tough Las Positas side was undeniably positive in a crucial Coast-South Conference contest. Ezra Echauri netted a pair of goals to lead the Vikings (6-4-0, 4-2-0 Coast-South), while Erik Moreno had two assists.
Colby Anger got things started against the Hawks (7-5-2, 1-4-1) with a 27th-minute tally off a Moreno helper. LPC's Saul Tecle got the equalizer a minute into the 2nd half, but Echauri, from Moreno, scored the game-winner two minutes later. Echauri, from David Reyna, added an insurance goal at 68'. Leo Godinez stopped four LPC shots to earn the win in goal.
West Valley hosts Ohlone (1-9-3, 0-5-1) Tuesday (10/22) at Dick Schwendinger Field. Kickoff is 4:00pm.
