Men’s soccer shuts out Fullerton 3-0 in strong season-opener
The Vikings Men's Soccer team started their regular season Friday at the Mt. SAC Invitational in Southern California. Friday night West Valley came out strong putting on a forceful showing against Fullerton College.
Sophomore Devin Rosas opened the scoring early, depositing a pass from Omar Rodriguez into the back of the net in the 3rd minute for a 1-0 Viking lead. That was all they needed but the scoring didn't stop there.
In the 47th minute, freshman Cameron Wildt made it 2-0 Vikings, assisted by Brian Diaz. Wildt is an exciting freshman who showed off his talent in the few preseason matches WVC played. He finally got to display what he can do on the real stage.
Late in the second half the Vikings extended their lead with another freshman adding his name to the score sheet. In the 83rd minute Michael Ruiz put one past the Fullerton keeper to cap off an exciting start to the Vikings season.
With their 3-0 win over Fullerton, the Vikings are 1-0 on the young season.
