Saratoga will be the center of the community college beach volleyball world this weekend, as West Valley hosts the 3C2A Beach Volleyball State Championships May 9-11. Six schools will battle for the team championship Thursday and 32 pairs from throughout the state will duel Friday and Saturday.

West Valley's Sophie Ehret and Alex Franklin finished 2nd in last weekend's rain-battered NorCal pairs championship at Sacramento St. University and will be one of 13 northern tandems to hit the sand at the West Valley Beach Volleyball Complex. 19 southern pairs will venture north seeking championship hardware.

South #1 seed San Diego Mesa (20-3), north #2 Fresno City (22-20) and south #4 El Camino (16-6) comprise team Pool A, while Pool B consists of north #1 Feather River (18-5), south #2 Ventura (19-5) and south #3 MiraCosta (16-9). The state champion, succeeding 2023 titlist Grossmont, will be crowned Thursday afternoon.

WVC's Ehret and Franklin, the north's #2 seed, begin the grueling journey through the pairs brackets Friday morning. The rugged two-day competition will crown a champion late Saturday afternoon.

First serve Thursday is 9:00am with the gate opening at 8:00am. Gates open at 7:00am Friday, with the action slated to begin at 8:00am. First serve Saturday is 10:00am, with gates opening at 9.
