Vikings smack Seahawks in home opener
Harnoor Sidhu watches his game winner slip past the Seahawk keeper
Outside an early distribution error, West Valley's 3-1 win over Cabrillo Saturday was a near-complete performance on both sides of the ball against its rivals from over the hill.
An errant pass in the box handed the Seahawks (0-1-1) a 1-0 lead at 3:41. It was essentially all Vikings from there, as WVC controlled midfield and found the back of the net three unanswered times. Devin Rosas got the equalizer for WVC off a Richie Granados assist just before the halftime horn. Harnoor Sidhu, from Erik Moreno, slipped the game winner under 'Hawk keeper Carlos Bajaras in the 75th minute and then returned the favor, finding Moreno for the insurance goal in stoppage time.
The Vikings (1-1-0) get a breather before heading to Quincy for a Sept. 19 game at Feather River. Kickoff is 5:00pm.
